Mrs. Renee Mathews
D. Renee Mathews is the President of AndMore Education Services, LLC, the President of H.R. Avin Associates, LLC, and is honored to serve as the Principal of Coastal Leadership Academy. She is an independent consultant serving charter and traditional school clients in human resources, leadership coaching, curriculum and instruction improvement and governance tailoring services to meet the needs of individual clients. She has over thirty years’ experience in all facets of education from teacher to superintendent. She has served as the President of the SC Association of School Administrators Instructional Leaders Roundtable, a grant evaluator and school improvement consultant for multiple departments with the SC Department of Education and served as the founding principal and director of SC’s only Chinese Language Immersion Public Charter School.
Mrs. Mathews has taught at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels in math, social studies, theatre and English Language Arts. She has six years of experience instructing teachers and principals at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Mrs. Mathews has served as a Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, High School Principal, Elementary and High School Assistant Principal. Her professional experiences include leadership in and development of Montessori and public choice options, project based learning, dual language immersion, school/district consolidation, schools within a school, The Ford Academy of Manufacturing Sciences, diagnostic and formative data systems, and school reform.
She has a record of success in leading teams to increase academic achievement on state and national testing and increasing graduation rates.
Some of her achievements include: South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) Instructional Leaders’ Division President and Executive Board, AdvancEd (Accreditation) Quality Assurance Review Team Vice-chairman, SC Counseling Association Outstanding Administrator Award, Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Kappa President and District II Director, Ft. Jackson US Army Partners in Education Advisory Board and the College of Charleston School of Education Advisory Board. Mrs. Mathews is a loyal USC Gamecock fan having earned five undergraduate and graduate degrees from the university. She holds professional educator certifications as a superintendent, K-12 principal, secondary social studies and secondary English Language Arts.
Mrs. Mathews has provided professional development training for the South Carolina Department of Education Tapping Executive Educators for Aspiring Superintendents, School Leadership Executive Institute for New Principals, International Teachers Induction Program, SC Education and Business Summit, Trident Workforce Investment Board, SC Association of School Administrators, SC Association for Rural Education, and Eastern Michigan University Best Practices Conference. She has served as a mentor for new directors and principals in the SC Public Charter School District and on the district’s curriculum and accreditation teams.
