According to one of the foremost authorities on Project Based Learning (PBL), The Buck Institute of Education defines PBL as:
Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.
So what does that look like?
Is PBL a Program or a Core Competency at Coastal Leadership Academy?
PBL Is a Core Competency!
At Coastal Leadership Academy, Project Based Learning is a teaching Philosophy and the Core Method by which we deliver our curriculum! We have a dedicated staff that develops genuine projects that are aimed at answering real world business problems. We ask local businesses in the Grand Strand Area for problems they have and our students participate in internships with those businesses to solve their problems. This gives our students an edge on the working world and even college because they understand the purpose of education and use it as a tool to take on the world instead of a something they are required to do.
